Resource Development Department:
Events and Social Media Intern
Reports to: Director of Development & Communications
Location: 370 Oak St., Brockton, MA 02301
Timeframe: 3-5 hours per week; flexible
Family and Community Resources, Inc., (FCR) is looking for an enterprising intern who is passionate about making a difference in their community. FCR Interns will gain valuable experience in non-profit marketing and event management and social entrepreneurship as they work together with the FCR staff. The schedule is flexible and interns will have the opportunity to complete and contribute to projects and initiatives essential to the functions of the organization. Interns will receive direct hands-on experience and skills development in the areas of fundraising, philanthropy, and day-to-day operations of a non-profit organization.
Responsibilities
Agency Events:
· Assist with planning, logistics, and execution of fundraising and community engagement events including: preparation of correspondence with guests, donor and sponsor outreach, and design, produce and/or assemble event materials; researching vendors & venues and obtaining price quotes
· Organize all contact information for donors, sponsors, ticket purchasers, auction item donors, and guests;
· Assist with volunteer recruitment and management
· Attend and help set up/take down events;
· Assist with post event tasks such as acknowledgements, evaluation, vendor follow-up, etc.;
· Maintain donation pages and social media messaging related to events.
Seasonal Donation Drives, In-Kind Donations:
· Maintain wish list of items needed for support of FCR clients, families and children, and ensure that list is published on the website and via social media;
· Help design and produce collateral material for drives and outreach;
· Identify and contact schools, businesses, etc. to be donors and/or public collection sites and respond to schools, businesses, etc. who want to conduct drives for FCR;
· Assist with community outreach for donations and coordination of supply drives, i.e. Janice’s Closet, Food Pantry, Visitation programs per staff requests.
· Assist with Adopt-A-Family holiday initiative
General Resource Development Administrative Activities:
· Maintenance of donor records on eTapestry;
· Produce and mail all gift acknowledgements, ensuring that the acknowledgement responds to the specificity of each gift and each donor;
· Ensure media and photo archives are current and photos are posted on website and social media as appropriate, maintaining client confidentiality at all times;
· Assist with creation/design/production of marketing and PR materials, including email newsletters, annual report, Impact data sheets, PSA’s, flyers, etc.;
· Post on agency social media sites; help maintain website and keep news and information current; assist with the conversion of the website to a user-friendly platform.
· Conduct foundation and corporate grant research
Qualifications
Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing & Communications, Non-Profit Management, Public Administration, Business Administration or similar kind of degree;
· Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Publisher, etc.;
· Driver’s license required; Background check required;
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills; creative/persuasive writing skills;
· Firm grasp of available tools and platforms in the social media space;
· Strong attention to detail; excellent proofreading skills; ability to meet deadlines essential
· Ability to maintain confidentiality;
· Ability to multi-task, work independently and within a team, and take initiative;
· Experience with desktop publishing/design software and database management a plus;
· Professional appearance in the community; friendly and outgoing personality; ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds;
· Some evening meetings/ event attendance required.
