Rapid ReHousing for Survivors

FCR’s Rapid Re-Housing for Survivors Program provides:

  • Housing advocacy

  • Case management

  • Flexible financial assistance such as rental support for survivors who are homeless or at imminent risk of being homeless because of domestic violence.

Based on a “self-sufficiency” model, survivors may access resources for  job training, budgeting help, resume writing, and other life skills training to maximize their ability to live independently.

If you need assistance call us at 508-583-6498 and ask to speak to a Housing Advocate.

Homeless: an individual who lacks a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence, and includes an individual who is sharing the housing of other persons due to loss of housing, economic hardship, or a similar reason

What can this look like?

  • Living in a motel, hotel, trailer park, or campground

  • Living in emergency or transitional shelter

  • Living in a primary nighttime residence, public or private, not designed for or ordinarily used as a regular sleeping accommodation for human beings, or migratory children

  • Individuals abandoned in a hospital or awaiting foster care placement

  • Individuals losing one’s current housing or otherwise needing housing assistance because of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, or stalking, for whom emergency shelter services or other crisis intervention services are unavailable

There are many barriers to finding safe housing that are unique to survivors, such as

  • Abusers running up credit card bills or lying about paying bills, resulting in Poor Credit and Ruined Rental Histories

  • When survivors need to miss work because of violence, or are fired because of stalking and harassment that occurs at the workplace, causes a Lack of Steady Employment

  • Repeated calls to the police or repeated property damage results in Housing Discrimination by landlords against survivors

  • Abuser violation of different program policies creates a Loss of Subsidized or Other Affordable Housing

But there is help available!
