Team Lead - Youth Healthy Relationships Program
Full time: 35 hours/week
Reporting Relationship: Director of Domestic Violence Services
Location: 18 Newton Street, Brockton, MA 02301
The purpose of the Team Lead for the Healthy Relationships Program is to implement a healthy relationships promotion and dating violence prevention program focused on serving youth in the Brockton area. The Team Lead will lead a collaboration of partner agencies to ensure that outcomes-focused strategies and activities are developed and implemented. An evidenced-based curriculum will be utilized. The Team Lead will also supervise a cohort of peer leaders who will be trained to deliver the curriculum. The collaboration will implement outreach and training events for families and the community that create a framework for healthy living and choices and educate youth and adults about healthy relationships and the issues surrounding dating violence. The goals of the program are to utilize community health education and the full spectrum of prevention programming as a step to prevention and well-being, to reduce the rate of dating violence and sexual assault, and to address racial disparities and health inequities by encouraging evidenced-informed prevention strategies. The Team Lead will also help individuals who have experienced the trauma of an unhealthy or abusive relationship obtain resources and support that will place them on the path to healing and wellness.
Qualifications: The Team Lead will have professional experience in the field of sexual assault, relationship violence, DV, and stalking, primary prevention services, trauma-informed service delivery, and community training. S/he will possess the knowledge, skills, and expertise pertaining to behavioral health systems; early childhood and adolescent development, issues faced by diverse populations, coalition building, empowerment-based advocacy, public health policies, the implementation of evidence-based strategies, and community-based partnerships.
Primary Responsibilities - Healthy Relationships:
Community educator/trainer — lead efforts to develop & implement effective and safe youth prevention and response programs within identified communities; provide information to individuals, families and communities that promote healthy relationships and prevent dating violence and sexual assault
Leader — lead and support collaborative efforts to build capacity of partner agencies to support youth, value youth leadership, and produce successful health outcomes
Provider — provide critical social services and supports to survivors of violence; ensure that abusers are held accountable for their actions
Researcher — collect and use evidence to execute positive changes for better health programs, reduce inequities in health care, and increase access to services
Advocate — advocate on the local and state level to provide better access to care, reduce or eliminate health disparities, and help families access resources
Caregiver — provide care across cultural, language, and literacy barriers to help shape the health, safety and well-being of children and adults
Primary Responsibilities - Domestic Violence Advocacy and Support
Participate and organize community meetings, forums, trainings and collaborations around domestic violence education and prevention.
Provide outreach and education to social service providers and the general community about domestic violence and related services.
Collaborate with child protective services, law enforcement, health care providers, culturally specific organizations, and other community providers to identify and address the needs of diverse groups of survivors.
Provide case management, supportive advocacy, referrals and safety planning, crisis intervention, and co-facilitating community-based support groups for survivors.
Other Responsibilities
Participate in DPH required trainings and meetings to stay current on best practices
Work to expand the network of community partners with the specific goals of decreasing sexual assault and dating violence and increasing healthy relationships
Maintain and submit statistical data, program reports, and billing information for prevention education and DV advocacy
Any other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Psychology, Counseling or Human Services
Ability to maintain flexible schedule in accordance with program needs
Creativity/flexibility in handling evolving projects and managing multiple priorities
Self-starter with ability to work both independently and with a team
Evidence based curriculum and assessment experience preferred
Excellent writing and communication skills and the ability to conduct small and large group presentations and discussions for diverse age groups and learning styles
Experience in coalition building and group facilitation
Bi-lingual or multilingual skills desirable
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and transport up to 20 pounds of program materials and supplies
Some travel in Massachusetts as required. Valid MA driver’s license, auto registration and safe driving record required.
Salary Range: $25 to $30 per hour
