Receptionist/Medical Billing Clerk

Hours:  Part-time Position 20 hours per week (Monday – Friday 8 AM – 1 PM)

Reports Directly to:  Chief Operating Officer

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years medical office experience
• Ability to work and interact with diverse population
• 1-2 years experience 3rd party insurance billing
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Reliable and dependable
• Computer Skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, EmpowerDB, Medical Manager
• Highly organized
• Good understanding of confidentiality and privacy practices
• Good interpersonal and communications skills
• Bi-lingual highly desirable

Responsibilities

  • Providing front desk coverage (answering telephones, checking in clients, verifying insurance and demographic information, collecting insurance co-payments, etc.)
  • Data Entry including: 3rd Party Insurance billing, non-insurance billing and upcoming appointments into FCR practice management system and database
  • Run encounter forms and insurance verification sheets
  • Make appointment reminder calls and/or cancellation calls, scheduling psychiatry appointments
  • Copying and collating agency documents
  • Preparation of new client files, pulling files for upcoming appointments and monthly utilization review meetings
  • Filing of client related documents, including but not limited to progress notes, psychiatric evaluations, medical records, etc.
  • Maintain agency files, including cataloging and storage of closed case files
  • Monitor children in waiting area and notify clinician/advocate if needed
  • Perform opening and closing procedures and organize waiting area as needed throughout the day
  • Complete and submit weekly written schedule and time sheet to direct supervisor
  • Flexibility in scheduled hours to accommodate coverage needs
  • Assist in emergency situations
  • Other duties as assigned

Salary Range:  $20 per hour
