Domestic Violence Community and Training Advocate

Title: Full Time (35 hours) Domestic Violence Community and Training Advocate
Reports To: Director of Domestic Violence Services
General Description: FCR is looking for a self starting individual who will take on the task of providing culturally and individually responsive service and education on Domestic Violence to, individuals, organizations, and communities. Work effectively with underserved communities, such as refugee/immigrants, LGBTQ individuals, and youth. Those with multi-language capacity encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities: Participate and organize community meetings, forums, trainings and collaborations around domestic violence education and prevention. Provide outreach and education to social service providers and the general community about domestic violence and related services. Collaborate with child protective services, law enforcement, health care providers, culturally specific organizations, and other community providers to identify and address the needs of diverse groups of survivors. Case management, supportive advocacy, referrals and safety planning, crisis intervention, and co-facilitating community based support groups for survivors. This position requires two early evenings and occasional Saturday hours to meet the needs of both survivors and the communities we serve. Participate in day/evening crisis on-call rotation; other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: 2-3 years experience and understanding of trauma and working with survivors of domestic violence using an empowerment and social justice model; ability and passion for public speaking and outreach; commitment to social justice and ability to understand advocacy work within that context; understanding child protection and criminal justice agencies; excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Valid MA driver's license and clean driving record; good organizational and computer/data entry skills; willing to work independently and as part of an exciting team providing a continuum of services for survivors and their children. Must possess appropriate boundaries and understanding of; as well as, a commitment to, maintain strict client confidentiality. Those with multi-language capacity encouraged to apply.
Salary Range: $20-$23 per hour
