Cinco de Mayo Honorees

Dr. Claire Appling - Dr. Appling has worked tirelessly for over 60 years to promote health and wellness, and education within the Brockton community. She is a valuable role model for young women and a dynamic champion for young people in the city of Brockton. A proud graduate of Bridgewater State University & Boston College, Dr. Appling is a past recipient of the James Edgar Community Service Award and the Dr. Adrian Rondileau Award.


Erin Spaulding - As Senior Vice President of Youth Development and Family Strengthening, Erin has more than 20 years of experience in social services, mentoring, and youth and community development. Since 2000 she has overseen the Old Colony YMCA's commitment to all Youth Development Family Services, Mentoring and Academic Achievement Gap initiatives. She serves as a member, volunteer, or guest speaker for a number of community partners, including: South Shore Regional Housing Network, Horizons for Homeless Children and School on Wheels.

Mark E. Linde, General Manager for Brockton Community Access (BCA) and Adjunct Faculty at Massasoit Community College. For over 30 years, Mark has dedicated himself to his community through his work at BCA and as a member of the Massachusetts Association of School Committees (MASC), Massachusetts Teachers Association (MTA), as a Trustee and past Chairman of the Brockton Library, the Rotary Club, the United Way, the Old Colony YMCA and others.
